Notes from the Workshop:
The Creatr HS is what we use here at 3D Supply Guys as our primary filament test machine – its versatility makes it ideal for a wide variety of filaments. With the machine’s high speed components comes increased operational noise – but precision remains consistent and reliable across the spectrum of available print speeds. If you’re seeking a reliable, fast, durable machine – the Creatr HS is for you.

About Leapfrog Creatr HS 3D Printer

The high speed Creatr HS prints up to 5 times faster than the regular Creatr. Coupled with the nearly 15 liter print volume & dual extruders, the Creatr HS is the perfect fit in many different applications. It features USB connectivity for tethered computer controlled printing, but also works directly with standalone files via a USB stick & the integrated firmware. A 4 inch LCD screen and rotating dial controller make direct interaction with the machine simple.

Designed in the Netherlands, the Leapfrog Creatr HS is durable & well built. The machine itself feels solid across all components, largely characteristic of its aluminum frame & metal rods. The print bed is a solid piece of thick glass, clearly designed to withstand the test of time and endure many prints without reduction in quality. Even under the added stress and vibrations owed the fast moving print carriage, the Creatr HS remains firmly intact – ensuring that despite the fast print speed, quality and machine integrity are maintained.

Dual extruders are fed filament through protective plastic tubes, driven by stepper motors. The filament rolls actually sit protected under the print bed assembly – in a unique design that minimizes the machine profile while allowing maximum build volume. The versatile extruders are well suited for a wide variety of filaments currently available- beyond the standard ABS & PLA, you can experiment with woodfill, PVA, Nylon, and more. The variable resolution (particularly when combined with the included & easy to use Simplify 3D software) allows you to fine tune the print specifications to best accommodate your desired filament.

Additional Tech Specs

At nearly 15 liters of print space, the Creatr HS is among a select few printers that offer such a large print volume in a desktop machine. The heated glass print bed is well suited for use with Leapfrog’s recommended print stickers, or as we prefer – with kapton tape. The bed can reach temperatures up to 95 degrees celsius, ideal versatility for various filaments. With certain materials, some users have even reported success printing directly onto the glass bed – though again, we prefer kapton tape for added protection & easy cleanup when needed.

Again, this machine excels in print speed and quality. The print carriage can print at speeds up to 300mm per second, and travel speeds can be pushed to 400mm per second. XY axis precision is a very fine 17 microns (.017 mm), and z axis precision / minimum layer height is a similarly precise 20 microns (.02mm).

About Leapfrog

Founded in 2012, Leapfrog 3D Printers designs machines with the intention of adding value to a number of target industries. Leapfrog was actually first developed to fulfill the rapid prototyping needs of Dutch manufacturer AV Flexlogic – a company that recognized (at the time) a price & quality gap in the 3D printing industry. This led to the development of the initial “Creatr”, and eventually the subsequent 3D Printers that have followed. The printers developed by Leapfrog have all been based on the same three principles: Ease of use, sturdiness, and versatility. Based on a deep understanding of 3D printing, Leapfrog continues to evaluate and innovate new technology that fits the needs of its varied user base.
